Math-o-vision movie contest due May 1, 2014

Dartmouth College Math Department and Neukom Institute for Computational Science present their annual Math-o-Vision video contest. Make a (maximum) 4 minute video telling a story inspired by math. Upload your video before noon on May 1.

See the world through mathematical eyes, think about things mathematically, and communicate
that creative and mind-expanding view to the world in an engaging and visual manner:
Explore Math-O-Vision. For example, explore creative explanations of mathematical
ideas or creatively show the ways math appears in the world: in technology, nature, or
the arts. Bring “Math-O-Vision” to life!

First Prize: $4,000; Second Prize: $2,000; Third Prize: $1,000

2014 Thacher Environmental Research Contest Focuses on Refuges, Parks and other Protected Areas

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies is pleased to invite U.S. high school students to participate in the 2014 Thacher Environmental Research Contest. This annual contest allows students the opportunity to show off their science and technology skills by submitting research projects focused on the use of remote sensing and analysis tools. Students are asked to identify a U.S. protected area of interest, and design a research project that identifies why the area is unique, why it significantly contributes to our society, how this area has changed over time, and ways remote sensing and geospatial tools can be used to monitor these environmental treasures.
Cash Awards from $200 to $2,000

Participation is open to all U.S. students in grades 9-12. Entries may be submitted by individuals or student teams. Three cash prizes will be presented, with the first place student or team receiving $2,000, along with a feature in the magazine Apogeo Spatial. In addition to prizes for the winning students, the teacher/coach of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entrants will receive a $200 Amazon.com gift card.
Entries must be postmarked or emailed by May 5, 2014

The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) Video Contest 2014

The American Road and Transportation Builders Association wants students to share their thoughts on the US transportation system. Enter their video contest for a chance to win a $500 prize.  Entries are due August 1, 2014.
